Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) originated approximately thirty years ago as a method for automating high volume business-to-business interactions. Today, with a few exceptions such as Wal-Mart, Dell Computer and Cisco Systems for example, EDI has classically remained only within the scope of the largest of partner interactions.

bTrade can change that. The bTrade TDNgine is designed as the central hub system for a trading community transitioning to EDI over the Internet (EDIINT). The bTrade Workflow Portal complements bTrade TDNgine by enabling:

One message infrastructure for both small partners and large partners. The same enterprise application and EDI message infrastructure (translation, archive and support) allows X12 EDI messages such as 850 Purchase Orders to be used by both large and small partners. Large partners use AS2, or bTrade TDAccess, and the small partners use bTrade Workflow Portal and their browser. Automating more interactions lowers cost and accelerates the business through faster order turnarounds, acknowledgements and timely ASNs.
Browser-based workflow for small partners. With the bTrade Workflow Portal, the small partners can view EDI documents, determine the appropriate turn-around document, modify select elements of the document and send it to the bTrade TDNgine. Turnaround documents for an 850 Purchase Order might be one or more of 855 Acknowledgement, 856 Advanced Ship Notice or 810 Invoice.
