Hummingbird DM
Description
Hummingbird DM transforms document-based electronic information into knowledge assets with an enterprise-ready platform that facilitates the capture, sharing, and protection of corporate content resources. User queries are easily executed across global DM repositories, enabling users to find and control documents and easily distribute them for review, collaboration, and publication with project teams inside and outside the traditional corporate landscape.
Hummingbird DM administrators are well equipped to manage their content infrastructure, able to rapidly configure the DM environment, customise the repository structures and forms, import legacy content and metadata, integrate applications, deploy user interfaces without visiting workstations, and manage document retention and storage disposition.
Features
Intuitive Content Management Interfaces
The DM Webtop presents hierarchical views of content repositories with support for drag and drop operations, and document management features are seamlessly built into the Windows desktop, Windows Explorer, and Microsoft Outlook. Hummingbird DM is readily available from inside mainstream authoring tools, and the DM Interceptor goes beyond typical integration abilities by quickly integrating any application’s File/Save As and File/Open commands to capture and manage its content.
Enterprise Queries Users find the information they need fast via a Recently Edited Documents list and Quick Searches that return hit lists of frequently searched items. Simple and complex queries against enterprise DM repositories storing SQL metadata and source content yield intuitive, consolidated search results. The DM Indexer, powered by Hummingbird SearchServer, can generate multiple indexes for system redundancy or to distribute queries for maximum performance gains.
Customisable Security Model To better accommodate users both internal and external to the enterprise, administrators can configure role-based groups with granular permissions controlling who can create, search for, and manage content in DM repositories. Exclusionary security options to Allow or Deny access to documents and folders fine-tune information shared between cooperative teams. Published versions of documents are accessible while authors revise and evolve them behind the scenes, and read-only settings protect content that should be retained in corporate memory.
Advanced Content Management Capabilities Folders provide navigable content structures for compound documents with descriptive profiles, activity history, and a Where Used functionality that tracks how documents are used across the enterprise. Related Items enable users to create virtual or topical associations from folder to folder, or file to file. Folder contents can be published to HTML or XML with Hummingbird Web Publishing for content distribution on web sites.
