The Report.Web Converter module allows AFP, PCL and Metacode files to be transformed into Adobes Portable Data Format (PDF) documents. Once in PDF, these documents can be accessed and managed by the Report.Web Enterprise Server. The configurator develops the document model by defining helper files, setting encryption and security levels, and then provides a preview of the document before compressing the file and sending it to the Report.Web Enterprise Server. It is also at this point that bursting points are determined.

Once the model is correct, the Converter configurator compresses the file, and then transfers it to the Report.Web Enterprise Server. This transfer can be accomplished via FTP, Ethernet and many other types of transfer protocols. At the server level, the model is brought into the publishing process using DMS or scheduler. The PDF resource is then selected and either the AFP, PCL or Metacode format is specified. Now that the AFP, PCL or Metacode file is published within Report.Web, the user has full access to all functions and features of Report.Web Enterprise Server.
