Web Browser Support – the user can access main features from their IE 6.0, Netscape 7.0, Firefox, and Opera 7.x web browser.
Multi-Domain Functionality / User ID Cross-Domain Support– create independent domains for different departments or divisions to organize documents and knowledge workers according to their business function. Assign users access to multiple domains. Authorized users can move between domains without logging out and back in to the other domain.
Active Directory Integration – integrate with your Active Directory domain to authenticate User IDs and passwords.
WebDAV Support – the user can map a local drive (web folder) to the remote EDMS server, edit and management files directly from the mapped web folder on the desktop. WebDAV enables users to directly open MS Office and save the modified document back to the OpenEDMS server with a new document version.

Email Integration – OpenEDMS provides email client connections with message routing to an email inbox. The Outbox keeps all the outgoing messages for the user. OpenEDMS only reroutes their email service to the OpenEDMS email service, does not delete or otherwise remove mail.
OCR and PDF File Format Converting – the system can automatically OCR (Optical Character Recognition) process imported files with OCR requirements and convert them to compressed searchable PDF files for 17 languages. The system can also convert MS word, text, and HTML files to PDF format based on the users request.
Integration API – the system can integrate with other enterprise applications which use the Java API. The File ID API can be used to plug enterprise specific document identification requirements into the document system.

SECURITY FEATURES:

Folder/File Access Control – the administrator can control the access level permissions of files and folders for users and user groups by assigning Read, Edit, Delete and Admin access levels. The subfolder can inherit the parent folder ACL (Access Control List) setting or an authorized user can override it. Newly created files inherit their ACL permissions from the folder in which they are stored; authorized users can override the default to define special permissions on a file by file basis.
Monitoring – user and document access auditing with all system transactions logged and monitored. Authorized users can monitor folder and file access from the included audit reports. With OpenEDMS Report, authorized users can design and format reports to retrieve any information stored in the database.
SSL Support – OpenEDMS uses SSL technology to support communication between the web browser and the OpenEDMS server. SSL is the technology used by banking and other e-commerce applications to secure the communication layer between the client computer and the application server environment.
