SmartSched Basic Scheduling Power
Description
SmartSched is intended for small to mid-size companies that need basic scheduling, and prefer to a system without advanced scheduling features which they may be unlikely to need. The typical fit for SmartSched is an order-based manufacturing company.
The scope of the basic solution includes screens to help you define calendars, machines, machine-alternates, routings, orders, scheduling and, naturally the visual schedule board displayed above.
SmartSched is a single-constraint scheduling system. Each machine recognizes a series of alternate machines, operation setup and unit production rate, operation shrinkage, overlapping, shop floor transaction updates, and quantity transformation or scrap per operation.
The visual scheduling capability is due to our special SmartBoard technology, which lets you view the schedule as a familiar magnetic schedule board and then use your mouse to drag and drop individual operations. This lets you fine tune schedules that have been first calculated by SmartSched.
Automated computer schedule cannot normally reflect 100% of all the variables necessary to have a perfect schedule. SmartSched gives you the ideal man-machine combined system. SmartScheds automated scheduling provides a feasible and close to perfect schedule. Next the experienced manual scheduler, can proceed to dynamically over-ride the schedule with fast-changing specific details that too difficult to build into automated scheduling logic.
The over-ride is accomplished with our SmartBoard technology. This visual user interface lets you manually re-arrange operation sequences on each machine. You can point and click, then drag and drop, on our scheduling SmartBoard. This flexibility lets you adjust your shop schedules like never before. Select and rearrange the order of rows (machines) to display on the Gantt schedule board. Zoom in Zoom out shows pixels per second on the screen. You can also double-click any given operation, and see a full screen of fields in the respective associated order and operation. A picture is worth a thousand words, and SmartBoard is a picture of your shops execution plan.
SmartSched lets you define machines, calendars, and routings. Each machine can have up to 10 alternate machines. SmartSched is a finite forward scheduler, allowing a choice of one of 12 standard rules, such as due-date, priority, priority + due-date, slack time, etc. The user can define a custom rule as a index expression (a sort order) which can combine constants, functions, and data from tables. The user defined rule (a dispatch priority order) can be built using any data stored in the system by the user. SmartSched is a best buy for the company just getting started with finite scheduling, and preserves the option to later expand seamlessly into a fully integrated manufacturing and accounting system.
