PMOLink Project Management Process tool
Description PMOLink’s Project Management Process tool is a fully integrated, navigable, and tailorable process model of the Project Management Institute’s A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide).
Project Management Process is approved and licensed by the Project Management Institute: the world’s leading not-for-profit project management professional association, with over 100,000 members worldwide.
APPROACH According to the PMBOK Guide, Projects are composed of processes. Although A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge®introduces the concept of project management as a number of interlinked processes, only one chapter in the document, scarcely 10 pages, is dedicated to Project Management Processes. PMOLinks Project Management Process is the long-awaited tool that graphically and comprehensively describes project management in terms of its component processes and their interactions.
Project Management Process is built on a four-level process architecture, displaying processes at various levels of detail, from a “30,000 foot” macro view down to procedural work flow. Individual processes are linked by their inputs and outputs and describe appropriate Tools and Techniques to be applied to the inputs to create the outputs. The information contained in the Knowledge Areas of the PMBOK Guide is expanded, where appropriate, to provide a robust and executable project management process.
Objects are color-coded so processes from the PMBOK Guide can be readily distinguished from enhanced project management processes. A comprehensive catalog of document templates and other appropriate tools (i.e., spreadsheet calculators, checklists, etc.) is linked and embedded into the process models.
