AppletVIEW
Description Using Nacimiento's patent-pending VIP technology, the AppletVIEW Toolkit publishes virtual instrumentation systems, such as those written with LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI, on the web. Once published you can see and interact with your instrumentation from anywhere in the world with a web browser like Netscape or Internet Explorer. Instrumentation that was once an isolated system requiring the physical presence of an operator can now easily be made available to a corporate-wide group of operators in different locations. Remote users do not need to purchase any special software nor perform any type of configuration on their computers; they simply connect to the appropriate web address and then access the instrumentation system.
Publishing an instrumentation system involves making it available to web browsers, and making a web browser able to connect to it. AppletVIEW accomplishes this with three parts: Libraries to make the instrumentation system available to a remote client. Tools to configure what the interface in the web browser looks like. A server to broker communication between the two. All of the parts of the AppletVIEW development kit are designed to be easy to use.
For example, the VIs and programming libraries that plug into LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI will be familiar to any LabVIEW programmer and they do not require any complex TCP/IP programming or configuration. AppletBuilder, the AppletVIEW program you use to recreate the interface of your instrument, is a drag and drop system that generates Java applets without any programming. Finally, AppletVIEW gives you a suite of programs to manage the connections between your local and remote instruments.
