Service Director
Description
Service Director is a software program designed to meet the needs of service centers dealing with consumer electronics, appliances and/or computers. Even though it is designed for these type businesses, others can use it effectively.
Service Director is a full 32-bit Windows program designed to be used on a local area network. The database manager is system named FlashFiler. I purchase FlashFiler from a company named TurboPower, www.turbopower.com. FlashFiler is built on time proven data management technology and is used world wide. FlashFiler is also designed to operate as a Client/Server application. This means there are two parts to FlashFiler. The FlashFiler server runs on a network server and the client piece is imbedded in the application that runs on the local machine. The FlashFiler database server program can run on any 32 bit Windows operating system, however, the network must be a Windows compatible network. This is also true of the Service Director Program itself. At this time the network on which Service Director must use the network protocol, TCP/IP.
For those of you who are not familiar with Client/Server databases, data security and integrity is much easier to maintain. Unlike non-Client/Server databases, there is only one program accessing and maintaining the data. The server program is master of the data and no other program can access it directly. The program which is used on the workstation makes requests to the server when data is added, changed or requested. This means that data corruption is much less likely when there is a workstation malfunction.
The program which you may download here is a single user version of Service Director. It is the same program as the network version with the exception that it cannot be use across the network to share the information stored in its database.
